About this Item

2004 Riesling Auslese
1 (1 x 1) 750ml

Family-owned for over 200 years, the Dr. Loosen family has been dedicated to the production of world-class Riesling on the unique, steep slopes of the Middle Moselle. Running the family wine estate since 1987, Ernst Loosen is one of the most dynamic winegrowers in Germany. He, and his family before him, are some of the finest, most-respected Riesling producers in the world. Beerenauslese (which translates to 'berry select') wines are generally made using botrytised grapes, and Dr. Loosen's Beerenauslese cuvée is an exemplary example of sweet, rich Riesling. Today, the domain has grown to ±25 hectares and has vineyards spread over some of Mosel’s top sites.

Critics Ratings

'Pale, golden yellow. Mandarin orange, hazelnut and candied lemon on the nose. Luscious, sweet white peach fruit framed and lifted by tangy citrus acidity. The finish offers a nice interplay of fruit with brown spice and distinctive slate.’ - Joel B Payne, Vinous, 90/100 (Jan 2006)
