About this Item
Château Gazin is located on the Right Bank of Bordeaux and was acquired by Louis Soualle, a French wine merchant, in the early 20th Century. Soualle's daughter married Edouard de Bailliencourt, who came from a family descended from the Lords of Landas. Today the château is still run by the same Bailliencourt family. This Pomerol property focuses its production on Merlot, with the occasional addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc in some vintages. The 26 hectares of vineyards stretch along the highest plateau in the area, providing perfect growing conditions for their fine Merlot.

Critics Ratings
‘ A big time sleeper of the vintage, the 2004 Gazin exhibits aromas of cedar wood, plum pudding, sweet cherries, figs, and black currants. Medium to full-bodied, pure, and elegant with substantial depth as well as terrific aging potential, it should be at its peak between 2009-2022.’ – Robert Parker Jr, Wine Advocate, 90/100 (Jun 2007)
‘Aromas of crushed berry and dark chocolate follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and a delicate fresh herb and light berry aftertaste. Balanced and not overdone. Best after 2009.’ – Wine Spectator, 89/100 (Mar 2007)
‘Vibrant dark crimson. A little tart but with some ripeness on palate entry. Not quite the fully evolved whole I had hoped. A tad brutal but it still has a way to go.’ – Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Feb 2014)
