R50 000 – R100 000R5 000

* and so on in multiples of 10.

Please note for live and virtual live auctions: the auctioneer is entitled to change the increments as they consider appropriate.

Commission bids

Commission bids are aligned with our bidding increments. Should you enter a commission bid that is not a valid bidding increment it will automatically be adjusted to the closest bidding increment.

For example:

If a lot already has a bid of R2 000 and you place a commission bid of R2 600, as indicated in the table above, R2 600 is not a valid bidding increment so your commission bid will automatically be reduced to R2 500.

Push bids

When multiple commission bids are received on the same lot then the bid that was received first will be the bid that is accepted. All the other bids of the same value are “pushed” into the bidding history so that they are acknowledged even though they have not been accepted. This is the reason why it sometimes appears that a bidder is bidding against themselves.

Telephone and absentee bids

Telephone and absentee bids are only applicable to virtual live and live auctions. Please click on the Absentee/Telephone bidding form below, enter your details in full and for Absentee Bids: list the lots you wish to bid on including your maximum bid for each lot, for Telephone Bids list the lot numbers you wish to be called for. Please email the form to bids@straussart.co.za
