Roland Peens

Roland has been immersed in fine wine for more than 2 decades, since studying economics at the University of Stellenbosch. After short hospitality stints, he directed South Africa’s leading online retailer Wine Cellar for 15 years, now Brice & Burnett, cofounders of Strauss & Co Fine Wine Auctions. As a senior wine specialist at Strauss & Co, Roland has tasted and traded almost every fine wine on the local and international market and has managed the largest wine collections in South Africa. Roland has judged for the major wine publications and travelled the wine world, even representing South Africa in world wine tasting championships in Bordeaux in 2013.

Roland is also CEO of Wine Business Advisors and director of Saurwein Wines, specialists in Pinot Noir and Riesling, based in Stanford.
