Notes

The proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit the Helen Timm Bursary Fund.

The Helen Timm Bursary Fund is awarded annually to three Rhodes University Masters students studying Fine Art, usually specialising in painting. The students are selected by the Head of the Department and consideration is given to both achievement as well as the need for additional support. At present R 4000 is awarded to each student as a stock room credit.

Helen Timm studied painting at Rhodes University – both as an undergraduate and as a Masters student. She unfortunately died prematurely at the age of 40. Julia Meintjes Fine Art represented the artist during her lifetime and continues to since her death. The bursary was established in 2013 and the intention is to continue awarding it indefinitely.

Provenance

Bequeathed to the current owner by the artist.
