About this Item
Stellenzicht 1994
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
This was Andre van Rensburg's first vintage at Stellenzicht and he was appointed due to the confidence of then-consultant Neil Ellis, who convinced the owner that Andre was the right man for the job. His confidence was well-placed with John Platter noting in his 1997 guide, 'his is the hand behind what might become the priciest, most prized modern Cape wine, the Stellenzicht Syrah'. 25 years later, the 1994 is perfectly composed, fresh and complex and 800 cases were made.
Provenance
Bergkelder Vinoteque - Stellenbosch
Critics Ratings
'An anomaly. The good bottles are actually getting better. Very similar to a quality aged classified Bordeaux. Elegant, complex, fine and savoury. An impressively low 12,5% alcohol indicates the delicacy of the wine, but by no means low in intensity. Cedar, pencil lead, graphite and mint. Substantial length. At its peak, but very stable. Drink now - 2025+'. Higgo Jacobs, October 2020
