Notes

It does appear that some of the 19th century Cape silversmiths specialized in making spoons, even to the extent of making spoons for silversmiths shops. Very many spoons particularly of plain fiddle pattern are identical in every respect- having even the same stimulated English hallmark-except for the different makers marker's marks.
