David Bromley, born in Sheffield, England, in 1960, is a self-taught Australian artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture and printmaking. He moved to Australia with his family in 1964 and began his career as a potter before turning to painting in the 1980s. Bromley is best known for two recurring themes within his work: depictions of children, drawing on the imagery and nostalgia of childhood, and representations of the female nude.

Bromley’s figurative work is informed by popular culture and the visual language of Pop Art. He incorporates imagery drawn from photographs, found material and mass media, reworking these sources through bold colour, graphic forms and expressive applications of paint. His practice has continued to expand across a range of media, including sculpture and printmaking.

Since the 1980s, Bromley has exhibited extensively in Australia and internationally, with more than thirty solo exhibitions across Australia, Europe, the United States and Asia. His work is represented in numerous private and corporate collections worldwide.
