Jean-Baptiste Valadié, born in Brive-la-Gaillarde, France in 1933, is a French post-war and contemporary painter, sculptor, engraver, designer, lithographer, and illustrator. He began his training at the Cours Charpentier in Montparnasse, where he studied applied arts and earned a diploma in the subject. During this period, he also worked as a draftsman around the Place du Tertre in Montmartre.

Valadié is best known for his colourful portraits of his muses, often characterised by elegant figures, expressive linework, and vibrant compositions. His work creates atmospheric scenes that are more vibrant and dreamlike than the grey Parisian surroundings in which he began his career.

Valadié has exhibited internationally, with notable exhibitions in the United States, Japan, Mexico, Honduras, and South Africa. His work has gained recognition for its distinctive combination of figurative imagery, colour, and refined draughtsmanship. The artist now lives and works between Provence and Morocco.
