About this Item

Rubicon 2014
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
Meerlust is one of South Africa's most historic estates, in the Myburgh family for eight generations, on the cool, maritime flats near False Bay in Stellenbosch. Rubicon, first made in 1980, is its pioneering Bordeaux-style blend and one of the Cape's most iconic reds. The 2014 is a serious, structured vintage. Richard Hemming MW gave it 17 out of 20, and James Molesworth from Wine Spectator gave it a rating of 90.

Critics Ratings

"Good restraint here, with classic cassis fruit and a dark liquorice and aniseed character on the palate. High but fine tannin. Enough fruit at its core to age well. Finishes with a faint rubber character." - Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Nov 2017)

"Mature, with polished edges to the mix of coffee, tobacco, steeped black currant and warm fig paste flavors. Light loam and savory hints add range on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot." - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 90/100 (Feb 2018)
