About this Item

Vrede Pinot Noir 2018
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
Storm Wines is the project of Hannes Storm, the long-time Hamilton Russell winemaker, dedicated to single-vineyard Pinot Noir from the cool Hemel-en-Aarde. Vrede is his most structured Pinot, from the clay and limestone of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. 2018 was a cooler, lower-yielding Cape vintage. Tamlyn Currin gave it 17.5 out of 20.

Critics Ratings

"Relatively pale. Very savoury nose. Glorious fanfare of fruit: wild damson, cherry tobacco. It dances. Glossy and grippy tannins. These wines really change in the glass, and this wine had me wishing I could have tasted them a bit more slowly. A little toasty, but masses of strawberries. The tannins feel full of pepper, and full of movement – musical! There is frisson in every molecule. Perhaps it's the lower yields of the 2018, but this vintage stands out in the vertical. It holds an electric current of tension and intention; it's focused and yet it has spirit and soul. Exceptional." - Tamlyn Currin, JancisRobinson.com, 17.5/20 (Oct 2023)
