Provenance

The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Brice and Burnett – The Fine Wine Specialists (formerly Wine Cellar). His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. The wines were professionally imported under refrigeration and carefully stored at Brice and Burnett (formerly Wine Cellar) thereafter. Many of the producers are not available in South Africa and provide an excellent buying opportunity.

Hamilton Russell Chardonnay 2017

"The 2017 Chardonnay was whole-bunch-pressed, destemmed and matured for nine months with partial malolactic and light bâtonnage, in around 30% new wood. It has an attractive bouquet of yellow plum and a subtle patisserie scent, the oak neatly integrated. Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir 2017
'Continuing the subtle changes that have occurred under Emul Ross, the Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir is now a worthy stable mate for the estate's Chardonnay. This shows the acidity of the 2017 vintage, with a fine perfume of wild strawberry and dried mushroom, subtle wood and a dense, complex, savoury finish. 2019-27.' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2018, 95/100

'Classically styled 2017 eases onto the palate with poise and grace, revealing layers of flavours - cooked red berries, leather, truffles, tobacco - all bound together by restrained, supportive oak (37% new). 'Bright and youthful red colour and with wood a little more evident on the nose, this still needs another six months or so to fully integrate. Very fine, ripe, tannins on the palate, these are sweet and typically Pinot in character. There is plenty of fleshy dark fruit on the palate in this 2017 with crisp acidity providing freshness to the long finish.
