About this Item
The 2019 vintage delivered wines of compelling purity and focused expression across Eben Sadie's Swartland portfolio, a season whose lean conditions concentrated the essential character of each old-vine parcel with exceptional clarity. Sadie Family's 2019 Palladius earned 96 points from Tim Atkin MW and 95 points from Anthony Mueller at The Wine Advocate. Palladius is Eben Sadie's great Swartland white, a blend of up to thirteen varieties sourced from seventeen old-vine parcels across the Paardeberg, Piketberg and St Helena Bay, Chenin Blanc-driven and informed by the full complexity of the Cape's most celebrated heritage white varieties. The wine is whole-cluster pressed, naturally fermented in clay amphora and concrete eggs, and aged on the lees without addition.

Critics Ratings
"Over the past five years Palladius has been the wine that gained most in quality and refinement. Currently of all the Sadie wines it represents the biggest canvas of the Swartland. Packed and dense, with an acidity that beams at you." - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2021, 96/100 (Sep 2021)
"Delivering aromas of lemon oil, raw honeycomb, wax melon and underripe peach skin, the 2019 Palladius is gorgeous on the nose, with a delightful floral lift and dusty nuance. Medium-bodied on the palate, the wine offers notions of dusty honeysuckle, underripe peach skin and citrus blossom along with lovely mineral tension and a kiss of phenolic bitterness. Every time I try these wines, they never seem to fail to deliver pleasure. Absolutely stunning!" - Anthony Mueller, The Wine Advocate, 95/100 (Jun 2022)
