The whisky is vatted from three separately matured components: whisky aged in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, whisky finished in 30-year-old Matusalem Oloroso sherry casks, and whisky finished in Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques, each component contributing a different dimension of character: the bourbon casks delivering vanilla and tropical fruit, the Oloroso lending dark dried fruit and chocolate, and the Cabernet adding a distinctive suggestion of red fruit and tannic grip that gives the Cigar Malt its singular profile.
