About this Item

Vintage Port 1985
2 (1 x 2) 750ml
The 1985 Douro vintage was a year of good structure and fine ripeness, producing wines of honest, traditional Port character that have evolved gracefully over four decades to offer the kind of developed complexity, dried fruit, spice, cedar and gentle tannins, that defines mature Vintage Port at its most rewarding. The 1985 was produced from hand-harvested grapes foot-trodden in traditional granite lagares and aged for eighteen months in the ancient lodges before bottling, a wine now firmly in the stage of full and rewarding maturity. "A mature Port of traditional character from a house steeped in Douro history.

At forty years of age the 1985 is now offering the fully resolved complexity and integrated structure of mature Vintage Port at its most rewarding. The 1985 Feuerheerd's shows lovely dried fruit, cedar and gentle spice on a palate now fully resolved and beautifully integrated after four decades in bottle." – Decanter, Gold Medal Fonseca Vintage Port 2011

Provenance

The late David Brice was a respected wine connoisseur, collector and co-founder of Brice and Burnett – The Fine Wine Specialists (formerly Wine Cellar). His lifelong passion for wine from all corners of the world wine, and generosity, helped develop a culture of fine wine in South Africa and beyond. Always with value and authenticity in mind, the collection spans a wide range of styles from leading producers and diverse regions. The wines were professionally imported under refrigeration and carefully stored at Brice and Burnett (formerly Wine Cellar) thereafter. Many of the producers are not available in South Africa and provide an excellent buying opportunity.

For more detailed information on the lots, please feel free to contact Roland Peens (roland@briceandburnett.co.za). Roland spent many years sharing and enjoying these wines with David Brice and is happy to provide further insight into the collection.
