About the SessionThese wines have been sourced directly from the ancient 15th Century cellars of Bouchard Père et Fils. They were imported into South Africa in March 2026 by Great Domaines via refrigerated container (reefer), ensuring optimal preservation throughout transit. These historic bottles, among the last remaining examples from the 20th and early 21st centuries, represent some of the Domaine’s most important cuvées. Fine vintages across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune back to 1972 have been selected, checked and captured on the Bouchard database, with a dedicated neck proof tag confirming their recent release from the Bouchard cellars. Bottles from the 2009 vintage and older were also waxed in anticipation of their recent release.

The 2007 Côte de Beaune harvest produced wines of fine aromatic purity, genuine elegance and early accessibility, a vintage that has retained its freshness and charm admirably and continues to offer rewarding drinking at the current stage of its pleasing and evolved development. Bouchard Père & Fils' 2007 Beaune Les Marconnets has been Les Marconnets is one of the oldest Premier Cru vineyards in Beaune, its name traced to the Germanic Marcomans who settled here in the 3rd century AD, with Bouchard Père & Fils having farmed 2.32 hectares at the northernmost point of the appellation since 1791, the layers of grey, marly chalk lending this distinguished cru its hallmark character, elegance and bouquet. The wine is produced from 100% Pinot Noir, aged 12 to 14 months in French oak with 30 to 40% new barrels.

"This is cooler still and somewhat surprisingly, a bit more elegant with high-toned red berry fruit aromas plus a bass note of warm earth that is in keeping with the detailed, refined and lightly mineral suffused firm, dusty and detailed flavors that possess lovely balance and length.
