About this Item

Crescendo 2000
6 (1 x 6) 750ml
Cordoba Crescendo is the cult Helderberg Bordeaux blend that built its reputation on Cabernet Franc and patient, classical élevage in 100% new French oak. The 2000 vintage shows that restrained house style clearly: tight, cedar-spiced and structured, with the kind of serious development potential that helped make the early vintages so sought after.

Provenance

This lot comes from the late Harold Eedes, who served as Managing Director of Wine Magazine for nine years. A highly respected and much-loved figure in the South African wine industry, Harold assembled a thoughtful collection that includes a number of mature Bordeaux wines. The wines have been professionally stored under temperature-controlled conditions at Brice & Burnett since acquisition.

Critics Ratings

'Never obvious or showy, few Cape wines demand patience like this classically-orientated example does; few likely to better reward many yrs of it. Always based on Cabernet Franc, matured in 100% new French oak, but blend varies. 2000 has 32% Merlot, it is still tight & firm, with overt, complex delights lingering. Cherry violets, minerality already showing, though cedary notes of wood still prominent.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide, 4.5* (2004)
