A Japanese blue and white Arita bowl, early 20th century
the square body with incurved corners, the centre painted with a panel of a dwelling below a pine tree in a mountainous landscape, the rim with Greek-key border, the reverse painted with four lappets each centred by a flowerhead enclosed by geometric borders, raised on a low footrim, underglaze-blue signature, 11cm high; a Japanese blue and white jubako, early 20th century, composed of two circular compartments and cover, painted with medallions of pines and pine cones, chip to the rim, 10,5cm high; and a Japanese blue and white transfer-printed jubako, early 20th century, circular, composed of three compartments and cover, transfer-printed with cranes in flight between cell-diaper and wave borders, chips and hairline cracks, 19cm high
