Notes

Leilah Walter's work explores the deep relationship between humans, textiles, and the land. Working primarily with natural fibres and textile waste, Leilah creates handwoven and hand-pieced artworks that are minimal and richly layered; visually, materially, and philosophically. Through slow, intentional processes, Leila reflects on how cloth carries memory: of agriculture, labour, touch, and time. Her recent works incorporate discarded textiles from the fashion industry, reassembled into woven and stitched tapestries that evoke sedimentary layers, suggesting that fabric, like soil, accumulates history. These pieces speak to the fleeting nature of desire and its lasting imprint on the earth.
