Notes

Becoming Radiance is woven from hand-spun mohair carrying the traces of its own lived history. The subtle shifts in golden greens and earth tones arise from the natural variation within the fleece — including the “lox,” or areas touched by the goat’s life, which take dye with unexpected depth and warmth. Rather than masking these marks, Leila highlights them, allowing the yarn’s story to surface through colour. The result is a compact yet powerful work that seems to hold light within it. Its surface glows gently, the hues gathering and dispersing like sunlight across a landscape. In its quiet radiance, the piece reflects Leila’s ongoing inquiry into material, memory, and the transformative potential of slow, attentive making — how cloth can become a vessel for both earthbound history and luminous presence.
