Notes
"My botanical design work at Casamento allows me to explore the more unusual and lesser-known Fynbos plants. The Protea Nitida is particularly fascinating, not only due to its size, a small tree with usable timber, but its flowers are straight out of a science fiction fantasy: unusually colourless but so dramatic in form that no two flowers are ever the same" - Starry-Eve Collett
Casamento, based in Muizenberg, Cape Town, use methods that are innovative, yet traditional, working in an environmentally conscious manner. Each member of the team is a valuable and skilled artisan, making the entire design and manufacturing process a meticulous, thoughtful work of art. Central to their work is a variety of hand-stitching techniques, using waxed twines and bamboo yarns. The designs are most often inspired by African heritage and the world of Nature.
