Notes
Mauro Corda, born in 1960 in Lourdes into an Italian stone-cutting family, is a French figurative sculptor. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Reims and Paris, later working at the Villa Vélasquez in Madrid. Corda is recognised for monumental sculptures that explore the human body, identity, and its limits, often combining classical forms with contemporary interventions. Using materials such as bronze, aluminum, stainless steel, and glass, his works balance flesh-like vitality with mechanical coldness. Exhibited internationally in Paris, Hong Kong, Chicago, Venice, and Bologna, his art is held in public collections in France, Morocco, and beyond. He has received numerous honours, including the Prix Paul Belmondo and Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
