A trio of John Platter 5-star Survivor Reserve Pinotages to pay a tribute to the one hundred years of existence of this true South African icon red.

These wines come from a single block of a 27-year-old bush vine Pinotage, grown on decomposed granite soils in the Swartland. The wine was fermented in open-top tanks where extraction took place by doing punch-downs three times daily. Each vintage aged for 22 months in 40% new, 40% 2nd fill and 20% 3rd fill French oak barrels, before being racked, filtered and bottled.

These wines show fragrances of roses and sumac-spice before blackberry compote and cinnamon. The palate deepens to the core with sappy black plum, cherries, and blueberries. Spice unwinds to the tail, trailing with rich dark fruit and a succulent freshness balancing the sinewy tannins. They are wines with power and finesse in a silky package.
