About this Item
A Cape stinkwood armchair, 19th century
with lattice back, caned seat, on square-section tapering legs
Notes
There are very few examples of the lattice back chair type which falls into the Cape Neo-classical stylistic category. The caning of the seat would suggests that it originated from the town, although there are a few caned country examples.
