A Cape brass two-handled jam boiler, 19th century
circular tapering body with rolled rim, the sides applied with opposing iron loop carrying-handles, dents, 25cm high, 52cm diameter over handles
Notes
A preserving pan and a jam boiler are very similar in function and are used primarily for making jams and other preserves.
Brass was a common choice for jam boilers, as it was known for its heat conductivity and resistance to rust.
