About this Item
A brass konfoor, 19th century
the circular body with three pierced and stipple-engraved panels, on three strapwork supports, the sides applied with ring handles, reduced feet, 15cm high, 28cm wide over handles
Notes
Konfoors were used to keep kettles, coffee pots and urns warm. A cast iron dish inside the konfoor called a 'tessie' held the hot coals.
This rare example is similar to the one found in the William Fehr Collection at the The Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town.
