A Rococo style carved giltwood overmantel mirror, 19th century
with shaped rectangular plate, within c-scroll, foliate and acanthus-leaf carved frame, surmounted by pierced rocaille cresting, restorations,160cm high, 114cm wide

Notes

The Rococo period, epitomized by the reign of Louis XV, was characterized by asymmetrical shapes with curves, delicate scrolls, and nature-inspired motifs such as flowers, vines, and shells. Giltwood frames were popular, often lighter and more intricate than their Baroque predecessors.
