A Georgian walnut and parcel-gilt wall mirror, 18th century
the rectangular mirror plate within gilt slip and moulded frame, with pierced central parcel-gilt acanthus-leaf motif, flanked by scrolled corner carvings, some damage, 72cm high, 39cm wide
Notes
This mirror is in the Chippendale style. The carved scrolling and elaborate gilded motif on the pediment is distinctive.
Chippendale mirrors were often crafted from high-quality woods such as mahogany or walnut.
