These outstanding vintages of Boplaas Cape Vintage Reserve embody the Nel’s heritage of crafting the very finest Cape fortifieds, utilising Portuguese varieties, traditional vinification methods and dedication to style, to create wines that will offer decades of enjoyment.

Crafted from old vine Portuguese varietals (Touriga Naçional, Tinta Barocca, Souzão and Touriga Franca) from Boplaas as well as from neighbouring farms. Grapes were hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented in lagars, with intense manual pigeage to extract optimal flavour, colour and tannin prior to fortification with wine spirit. The wine is then matured for two years in old, large-format French oak barrels before bottling, unfined and unfiltered.

Buxomly spiced, full fruited and tannic in its youth, these wines are artfully crafted for decades of development in bottle. If you wish to enjoy them in their youth, best decant and serve with earthy, rustic or braised meat dishes, venison, fine hard cheeses, charcuterie, tapas and a selection of nuts, dried fruits or succulently sweet green figs.
