Staff Pick:
Dr Alastair Meredith, Senior Art Specialist: "Oil paintings by Axel Eriksson are surprisingly rare, beautifully painted, evocative, and historically significant. Son of a Swedish trader and brewer in the then German South West Africa (Namibia), Eriksson was one of the very few painters working in the country in the early decades of the C20th. He died in 1924, the year Henk Pierneef made his second visit to Namibia."
