Notes
Staff Pick:
Ann Palmer, Senior Art Specialist: "To me George Pilkington is the master of seascapes, sometimes with yachts or ships, and here the Hermanus coastline. Hermanus represents a carefree time in my life, walking along these cliffs during the holidays. As a family we visited Hermanus regularly and this brings back many happy memories. This painting is interesting as it portrays Hermanus as the small fishing village it was before it became the popular resort it is today with the construction of huge apartment blocks and hotels."
