About this Item

2008 Dits del Terra Priorat
3 (1 x 3) 750ml

In 2004, South African winemaker Eben Sadie and Dominik Hubre established a new project in Priorat, called Terroir al Límit. Inspired by the old winemaking traditions of Burgundy and its approach to terroir, their aim was identify unique places in Priorat and represent them as authentically as possible. After finding the best old-vine parcels to work with, the pair took a rather unusual approach, in Spanish terms, to their winemaking – eschewing the use of small barrels and opting for tanks and large foudres instead. The vineyards are managed biodynamically and the winemaking is kept natural. The wines are honest expressions of their terroir – revealing the dramatic, rugged landscape of the DOQ Priorat and neighboring DO Montsant regions – and fully deserve the cult-status they have garnered. Eben Sadie is no longer a owner of this project and has no more involvement in Terrior al Limit.

Critics Ratings

‘Vibrant red. Assertive, mineral-accented red berry and cherry aromas are complicated by blood orange and fresh rose. Silky, palate-coating red fruit preserve flavors deliver solid punch and pick up a sexy spicecake character with air. The finish echoes the blood orange and leaves vibrant mineral and floral traces behind, eventually. This wine is balanced to age but is awfully delicious right now. 100% Cariñena.’ - Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 94/100 (Nov 2011)

‘The 2008 Dits del Terra displays higher acidity than normal due to the cool growing season in a normally warm site that typically shows the darker side of Priorat. Purple in color with a nose of lavender, Asian spices, incense, blackberry, and blueberry, on the palate it reveals a firm structure with fresh, lively acidity, intense flavors, lots of spice, and a pure finish. Drink it from 2013 to 2023.’ - Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, 91/100 (May 2011)
