Wine: Italy and Spain
About this Item
In 2004, South African winemaker Eben Sadie and Dominik Hubre established a new project in Priorat, called Terroir al Límit. Inspired by the old winemaking traditions of Burgundy and its approach to terroir, their aim was identify unique places in Priorat and represent them as authentically as possible. After finding the best old-vine parcels to work with, the pair took a rather unusual approach, in Spanish terms, to their winemaking – eschewing the use of small barrels and opting for tanks and large foudres instead. The vineyards are managed biodynamically and the winemaking is kept natural. The wines are honest expressions of their terroir – revealing the dramatic, rugged landscape of the DOQ Priorat and neighboring DO Montsant regions – and fully deserve the cult-status they have garnered. Eben Sadie is no longer a owner of this project and has no more involvement in Terrior al Limit.

Critics Ratings
‘The 2008 L’Arbossar is dark ruby red in color with a nose of mineral, black plum, tapenade, and violets. On the palate it is dense, spicy, and elegant (due in part to the cool growing season) with impeccable balance and length. Although it can be approached now, it will be better with several more years of cellaring.’ - Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, 92/100 (May 2011)
