A Chinese blue and white tureen and cover, Qianlong period, 18th century
octagonal-shaped, the cover surmounted by a wave-shaped finial, the border painted with flowerheads and scrolling foliage against a diaper ground, sienna-glazed rim, the body painted with a riverscape with a balustraded garden, pagoda, bridge and dwelling in the foreground and sampans and mountains in the distance, the sides applied with hare masks, raised on a conforming foot with diaper band enclosing four flowerhead-filled medallions, restoration, 32,9cm wide over handles
