About this Item
The history of Château Brown goes back almost 1,000 years, with traces of vines as early as the 12th century. The property got its name from a rich Scottish wine trader, John Lewis Brown, who settled in Bordeaux shortly after the Revolution, in 1795. Lying in the northern corner of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Brown covers some 60 hectares and has a similar climate to that enjoyed by the Médoc, although it tends to be slightly hotter with more rainfall. Despite its long history, it was only at the end of the 20th century that the château was finally restored to glory. Guided by Bernard Barthe, who became its owner in 1994, the estate invested considerably in the vines and facilities and produces classic Graves wines.

Critics Ratings
‘Undoubtedly the most impressive wine I have ever tasted from Brown, the dense ruby/purple-colored 2000 offers up excellent aromas of cassis, red currants, cedar, and tobacco. Medium-bodied, with super concentration as well as purity, power combined with elegance, and a moderately tannic finish, this is a stylish classic Graves as well as a sleeper of the vintage.’ - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 89/100 (April 2003)
