2001 was the fifth vintage from the famous Wellington vineyard and rated 5 stars in Platter. Considered a great vintage due to moderate weather in February, the top wines have aged with considerable grace. Just 1 000 cases were produced.

'A tertiary note reminiscent of marmite on the nose which belied how youthful and intact the palate would be - concentrated red fruit, spice, bright acidity, fine tannins. Great substance and intensity (underscored by an abv of 15%) but perfectly in balance. Perfection should, by definition, be rare.' - Christian Eedes, WineMag (2012), 18/20.
'Very dark, with plum and blackberry fruit covered with smoky bacon, loam and coffee notes. Nice game, lavender, sanguine and mineral notes peek in on the muscular finish.' - Wine Spectator, 92/100.
