Critics Ratings
'Benchmark Cape Rhóne-style red (10% mourvédre) 02 named for son 'Michael Ian'. Strong farmyard whiffs obscure fruit on nose, palate more generous with beef & brambles. Built for long haul. 01 VDG. Cellar at least 5 years. 14% alc.' - Platter's SA Wine Guide, 2005
'(includes 10% mourvedre) Ruby-red. Raspberry, black cherry, gunflint, tree bark and eucalyptus on the slightly sauvage nose. Ripe, fat, dense and dry, with flavors of black fruits, violet and gunflint. Nicely sweetened by the 50% American oak component. Finishes with intriguing gunflint and mineral notes. Very impressive for the vintage.' - Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com 89+/100 (2005)
