The color is very deep, the nose is deep, dominated by the terroir, the palate is serious. (Estate notes at bottling)

Gazin Pomerol 1999
'A potentially superb Gazin, the 1999 has put on weight over the last year. An opaque black/ruby/purple color is even more saturated than the 1998's. The ostentatious new oak (often a prominent characteristic of a young Gazin) is better integrated. Notes of licorice, plums, roasted espresso, and blackberries leap from the glass of this aromatic, full-bodied, powerful, muscular, over-sized Pomerol. It reveals generous depth in addition to a textured, long, moderately tannic finish. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2020.’ – Robert Parker Jr, Wine Advocate, 90-93/100 (Apr 2001)

‘Good ruby-red. Raspberry, graphite, espresso and licorice on the nose. Supple, dense and gusty, with concentrated fruit nicely framed by sound acids. Finishes with serious, dusty, even tannins and very good length. Seemed to grow longer with aeration’ – Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, 89/100 (May 2001)
