Critics Ratings
Cheval Blanc Saint-Émilion 2003
‘Menthol, tobacco and incense aromas give way to warm plum, blackberry and black cherry compote flavors. Loam and cedar notes ride through the finish, with the supple fruit lingering. Admirably seductive for the vintage.—Blind '01/'03/'05 Bordeaux retrospective (December 2017). Best from 2020 through 2035.’ – James Molesworth, Wine Spectator, 95/100 (2018)
Mouton Rothschild Pauillac 1999
‘Vibrant red/black fruit evident. An elegant Mouton with herb and spice notes on the nose, leafy blackcurrant on the medium-bodied palate. Quite restrained, doesn’t have the density of the top vintages but still has a bit of a future ahead. Tannins a little grippy.’ - Andy Howard MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Sep 2021)
Pavie Saint-Émilion 2004
‘Good deep fresh ruby. Vibrant, complex aromas of blackberry, violet, licorice, espresso and minerals. Concentrated, spicy and fresh, with lovely clarity and lift to its penetrating dark fruit and mineral flavors. Densely packed and downright palate-staining for 2004 without any impression of heaviness. This has plenty of fat for the year and finishes impressively dense, with ripe, building tannins.’ – Stephen Tanzer, Vinous 93/100 (May 2007)
