CAPE TOWN – Strauss & Co is pleased to announce that it will once again collaborate with art collectors and philanthropists Frank and Lizelle Kilbourn in hosting August Art Month at Welgemeend, a vibrant month-long programme of activities at Welgemeend manor house in central Cape Town. A joint initiative of the volunteer group Friends of Welgemeend and Kilbourn family, the eleventh edition of this boutique arts and culture event will run from 1–31 August 2024.
Strauss & Co posted a record turnover of R215 million in 2016, the highest combined income achieved by the company in a single year since its inception in 2009. While the narrative around individual sales matter, it was Strauss & Co’s capacity to achieve a sell-through rate of over 80% at its four live auctions in Johannesburg and Cape Town that contributed to its resounding performance.

Now, a pangolin is poached every five minutes, making them the most poached mammal on earth, threatened with extinction at the hands of man, and the title of ‘the most poached mammal on the planet’.At Strauss Art Auctioneers, a curated collection of mainly pangolin-themed artworks and sculptures, aims to raise funding for the African Pangolin Working Group.
