Archived: Strauss & Co’s bumper year ends on a resounding high note
Strauss & Co’s fourth and final live auction of 2017 ended on a high note in Johannesburg, with combined sales totalling R76 million. The exceptional result, achieved on a solid 84.32% value sell-through rate, helped push the company’s annual turnover into record territory. Combined sales for the financial year to date are R322 584 601.
Kalahari Studio: Honouring the Past, Shaping Legacies
Strauss & Co is proud to present a unique exhibition of the wares from the Kalahari Studio (1948 – 1973) at our Johannesburg premises, 89 Central Street, Houghton Estates from 3 to 28 February 2025. The wares are drawn from the extensive private collection of Tony Fornali. The show also celebrates the publication of the definitive book on the wares produced by the Studio. Written by Fornali, the book will be launched on Tuesday, 4 February 2025.

A night of vigorous bidding at Strauss & Co’s s spring auction in Cape Town generated R58 million in sales, a record for the Cape Town office and the second highest individual sale result for South Africa’s leading auction house.
