‘Good bright medium red. Sexy, soil-inflected aromas of cherry, redcurrant, strawberry, tobacco, cinnamon and licorice. Intensely floral and precise, with ripe acidity framing the flavors of red berries, game, earth and resiny herbs. Conveys a saline impression of extract. Finishes with a broad dusting of tannins and excellent length and lift. ‘Very mild reduction reduces the expressiveness but does not fully hide the otherwise fresh and airy red pinot fruit and earth suffused nose. There is good detail and excellent verve to the balanced, intense and relatively refined finish. In 2010, this is definitely more Chambolle than Vougeot in basic character.
