Established in 2007 by the dynamic husband-and-wife team, Chris and Andrea Mullineux have, in a very short space of time, established Mullineux as one of South Africa’s most celebrated producers. Their track record speaks for itself: Awarded Wine Enthusiast’s International Winemaker of the Year in 2016, Tim Atkin’s SA Winemakers of the Year in 2017 and Five times Platter's Winery of the Year (2014, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2023).

Showing off the individuality of the Swartland terroir, the Schist is the more powerful of the single-site expressions and benefits from long-term cellaring. It scored 96/100 in Tim Atkin's 2013 SA Report.

Critics Ratings

‘Second, more ‘masculine’ sibling of 2010 terroir twins is bolder, richer, but retains beguiling floral fragrance, with a touch more muscle on the supple body. Hints of fruitcake & tobacco, same silky texture.’  Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2013, 5*
