oval, with detachable cover, the body carved 'A.J. van NIEKERK' to the front and 'DARRELL'S EILAND BERMUDA' to the reverse, 15,8cm long; a Boer War prisoner of war ebony and hardwood box, Ceylon, 1902, carved as a prayer book, the front carved 'Boer Camp Ceylon. 1902', the reverse 'J H R', with hinged lid, 11,4cm wide; and a Boer War prisoner of war fruitwood ink pen, St Helena, 1900 - 1902, tapering, carved with serrated ribbons and 'St Helena, POW', 18,5cm long

The Boer War prisoner of war fruitwood spectacle case possibly Adrian Jacobus van Niekerk, prisoner 15398 who was captured in Edenburg on 19 November 1900.
