About this Item
A Chinese cinnabar lacquer box and cover, Qing Dynasty, 19th century
circular, the cover carved with two scholars holding their attributes before a rocky landscape and a pine tree, against an intricately carved key-fret and diamond diaper ground, raised on a low foot, the interior and base with black lacquer, minute chipping to the lacquer, 12cm diameter, remnants of a paper label, Fook Wen* No 3; and another, smaller, the cover carved with a figure before a mountainous landscape, enclosed by peony borders against a carved key-fret ground, the interior and base with black lacquer, minute chipping to the lacquer, 8,3cm diameter
