About this Item
Notes
Sanell Aggenbach originally produced sixteen sculptures of little black sheep, thirteen of which were shown at the Association of the Visual Arts (AVA) Gallery in Cape Town, on her solo exhibition 'Blank' in 2003. Installed facing a small tapestry based on a JH Pierneef painting, Aggenbach would enter the remaining three as part of a similar installation on the ABSA L'Atelier of the same year which saw her awarded the prestigious prize. Gordon purchased three sheep from the AVA exhibition of which the present lot is the last surviving example.
