About the SessionThe Toyota Stellenbosch Woordfees Benefit Auction forms an integral part of Strauss & Co’s ongoing partnership with one of South Africa’s leading arts festivals. Now in its fifth year, the auction reflects a shared commitment to supporting the visual arts and creating meaningful opportunities for artists and collectors. Held at Stellenbosch Town Hall and accompanied by a curated preview exhibition, the auction brings together works by both emerging and established artists. Its intention is to encourage new and seasoned collectors to engage with and invest in South African art, while expanding the market and improving access to the work of leading local artists. At its core, the auction places artistic excellence at the centre while seeking to create greater visibility and recognition for contemporary artistic practice.

Notes
Rodan Kane Hart is a contemporary South African artist. His practice focuses on sculpture, painting, and photography. In addition to his own work as a visual artist, he is the co-founder and creative director of a number of platforms including THEFOURTH in Cape Town, which is a gallery space bridging art and design.
Hart studied Fine Art at the Wits School of Art and at the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town. He has completed four residencies: at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield, England (2013); the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai, China (2016/17); CProjects in Rome, Italy (2019); and Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France (2020). Hart has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and his works are represented in public and private collections in Europe, Asia, and throughout South Africa.
