Château Léoville-Poyferré is a Second Growth of Saint-Julien, the plushest in style of the three Léovilles, run by the Cuvelier family. 2013 was a cool, challenging Bordeaux vintage, though the best Saint-Juliens succeeded. Neal Martin from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave it a rating of 91, James Molesworth from Wine Spectator gave it a rating of 90, and Jancis Robinson gave it 16+ out of 20.

"The 2013 Léoville-Poyferré has a lovely nose with simple blackcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, maintaining Didier Cuvelier's more opulent style while retaining delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with gently grippy tannin, good acidity and structure, not complex but with a very impressive blackberry and cassis finish that lingers in the mouth.
