El Puntido 2007
Spain
About the SessionRioja anchors the Spanish session with a depth and breadth that rewards both traditionalists and modern-style enthusiasts. La Rioja Alta is the most extensively represented producer, with Gran Reserva 904 spanning multiple vintages and formats, alongside the classic Reservas - Viña Ardanza, Viña Alberdi, and Viña Arana. Beyond Rioja, Sierra Cantabria delivers some of the most sought-after names in the sale. Their single-vineyard Amancio across 2002 and 2007, the Finca El Bosque, and the Colección Privada 2003 represent the very top of the Rioja hierarchy.

Critics Ratings
“The San Vicente Eguren brothers' Alavesa property and its standalone wine. Deep crimson still. Even at nine years old! Lots of savour and tobacco leaf with sweet, mellow fruit. Long and rich with a fully evolved texture. Great freshness on the finish. Well done!” - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 17/20 (Jan 2017)
“Coffee and licorice notes frame blackberry and fig flavors in this bold, modern-style red. But characteristic leaf and tobacco notes keep this rooted in the region. Firm tannins give way to a juicy, floral finish.” - Thomas Matthews, Wine Spectator, 91/100 (Dec 2010)
“(100% tempranillo) Bright purple. Smoky, expansive aromas of black raspberry, allspice, anise and potpourri, with a lively mineral quality. Juicy and incisive, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and excellent clarity. Packs a punch but this wine is surprisingly light on its feet and finishes with striking purity and lingering spiciness. This saw only new French barriques but I find the oak playing a secondary role to the sexy fruit.” - Josh Raynolds, Vinous, 92/100 (Nov 2010)
