Alheit Vineyards Magnetic North 2015
'This wine is currently a baby, wanting more time to completely form and express itself with full potential. The nose is shy at first, needing some airing to coax out notes of singed fynbos, greengage and white melon rind. The palate offers a bit more fruit expression, as waves of citrus peel, Asian pear and dried apple skin are framed by a chalky minerality and just a hint of nutty stone-fruit pit. A sea-breeze salinity graces the driven, precise finish.' - Lauren Buzzeo, Wine Enthusiast, 93/100 (Jan 2018)
Alheit Vineyards Radio Lazarus 2015
'Get out your handkerchiefs, as they say in France: 2015 was a superb vintage for this Bottelary Hills Chenin, from old dryland vines vinified in clay pots. Dense, focused and salty, with a long, mineral finish and the kind of tension that rewards patience. 2018-28' - Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2016, 96/100
Alheit Vineyards La Colline 2015
'On the nose, there's a note of orange blossom before citrus, yellow apple, peach, dried herbs and hay — lots going on but equally nothing too heady or exaggerated. The palate meanwhile shows extraordinary fruit concentration and great length. Intense without being weighty, it comes across as just about perfectly realised. Profoundly good.' - Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 97/100 (May 2017)
'Green-fruit flavours. Lots of energy and pizzazz. A bit severe on the (sudden) end.' - Jancis Robinson MW, JancisRobinson.com, 16/20 (Jul 2025)
'Old vine Franschhoek sémillon from 1936 - a pre-clonal, 16th C massale selection) with 10 percent sémillon gris tipped in. Savoury throughout (reductive in the very best way) with wild and alluring herbal, a touch of brown butter to open the fuller palate, one with the waxy sémillon hue, but with a tight focus. Precise fine spicing and acidity frames and carries to the lingering end. Beauty mineral salts ring on the finish. Stunner.' - Anthony Gismondi, Gismondi on Wine, 95/100 (May 2017)
